ohm & distribution question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Si-bob, Aug 31, 2002.

  1. ok, i wanna learn here :)
if u got an amp with a min 2ohm load, and a 4ohm cab and an 8 ohm cab, will the head send more wattage to one cab? if so which one? why? (in fairly simplistic terms)
on the same note if you had three 8 ohm cabs would the wattage be distributed the same?

    thanks

The less resistance a cab has, the more power it will get.

A 4ohm cab gets twice the power of a 8 ohm cab.

Three 8ohm cabs all get the same power.

    More questions?

  3. so, for example, if you have a 300 watt head, 200 watts will go to the 4 ohm cab and 100 to the 8 ohm cab?
