Oil Finish Deep Cleaning

    I have recently aquired a koa bodied bass that is is need of some TLC...any recomendations for DEEEEEEP cleaning and refinishing?

    Not exactly sure what you mean by "deep cleaning", but typically with a tung oil finish, to restore the luster, you gently sand/buff the finish with 0000-grade steel wool, clean it off with Naptha, then reapply a coat of tung oil, let dry overnight, buff lightly with steel wool, apply another coat, let dry, etc. etc. A few coats are adequate, several coats are better.

    I meant to imply that it is dirty...a damp cloth brings some funk off onto the rag :eek:
