How can OJ be found innocent of murder and now he loses a 32M civil lawsuit against the Goldmans?
American Justice System?
Different standard or proof when you are talking about potentially incarcerating a person for life.
One case is civil...meaning money damages (usually). The other is criminal...meaning jail time.
AHHH! so CASH will keep you out of jail?
No, 60% probability that you are guilty will not put you in jail, but it will make you lose a civil case.
The words you're looking for are "American LEGAL System," not "Justice." See, that would imply that justice could be found in said system.
(Don't worry, Canada's is crap too.)
U.S. Criminal and civil cases have different standards of proof.
Criminal cases use "beyond a reasonable doubt."
Civil cases use "clear and convincing" evidence."
