Ok first off you are probably going to say "Dude where have you been?, Of course these websites exist!!"

But I have noticed a lot of "Learn how to play poker at xxxxx.com" on TV as of late, so I was bored one night and went to one of these sites and I see how they teach you

1.how to play poker, blackjack and so on
    2. after praticing you play with "fake money"
    3. You are then given the optipn to play with "Real Money"

They suck you right in and start sucking the $$$ right out of your pockets, And the have the audacity to warn you about How to not develope gambling habits

I NEVER send money in but I like to play and learn card games

I just find it interesting about the large # of TV commercials wanting you to "pratice" and "learn" how to play poker

    Of course many try to...

I´ve been using www.partypoker.com for some while and you can play for free there as long as you want to.
  3. the reason they do that is because people see on TV that you can win a lot of money really fast by being good at poker. and its true, you can win a lot of money...a friend of mine is into that whole internet poker thing as since he moved into the dorms last september, he has won thousands of dollars, but right now he is at about even because he lost a lot of money at the casino over the summer...

Although you aren't likely to actually learn a lot, playing with fun/fake/play money on the internet on your own. As in many other areas, some kind of tutoring is good to have, otherwise the learning process might be slow.

Play money on the internet is an entirely different game than what everyone can see on TV. A lot of play-money people are "fish" - i.e. they have no clue what they're doing and will rather call than fold any bet. So don't bluff them. Also, many play reckless on purpose since it's not real money, they think it's fun to push all in with junk just to see what happens.

So if you really want to learn the game, you need to play among friends who find prestige in beating you - that way, they'll do their best even if it's not about money. "Good" poker (as opposed the gamble with everything, call every bet plays) on the internet is more likely to be found in the mid limits, such as $1 NL or $2-$4 FL (although I've seen maniacs on tilt pushing in $100 pre-flop with 63o in Texas Hold 'Em). Thus you'd need quite a bit of a bankroll to participate in those games. And you are less likely to make good profit.

For if you just want to make money, learn to play tight and be patient. Play lower limits, at tables with a lot of reckless players and fish (Partypoker supposedly have lots of them in the lower limits), and gamble when you have the best cards. In the long run, you'll have their money.
