Ok, I give up... What does it mean to have your bass 'plekked'?

Is this some machine that measures the perfect distance between frets? So if you have an old bass, you'd have to have it refretted? Or is it a production technique for new basses only, like the Laklands?

Sorry, I've tried searching. Maybe I'm spelling it wrong.

  3. The Plek is an automated fret dressing machine, and it grinds the frets down to correct the intonation and crown.

Or have you only bought new basses plekked during production?

    This intrigues me.

    Thanks for the link, btw.

Oops: "Anyone who has had...'. Sorry. My grammar falls apart late at night.

  8. You can send any bass into Lakland and they will Plek it for you, I think it's like $200, check their site to be sure. I believe Mike Lull's shop has a Plek machine as well.

... a pretty poor substitute for friendly people willing to communicate, for one thing.

You might also want to check up on the etymology of 'forum', seeing as you're so curious about word meaning.

    Cheers.

I haven't paid to have it done, but I know folks do. I had a Ritter that was plek'd and it played great, but I have and have played others that weren't plek'd and played just as well. But I'm no pro and that's just my opinion.
