Ok, I'd like to find some new pickups for my Standard P-Bass.

    As I was practicing some scales this evening, for some reason, I realized that I'm not really big on the sounds that my P-Bass is putting out. It might just be my amp because it's a starter amp, but I figure since I only paid like 160 for the P-Bass (MIM), I might as well takes some time to upgrade it anyway.

    Basically, I'm looking for a sound that's low and... growly, I guess that's how I'd describe it? I guess kind of like sounds that are made in metal with picks, I think. If anyone has listened to bands like Isis, Pelican, Rosetta, or Tool, similar to those lows and mids. I know a lot of this does have to do with effects or amp settings, but I'd like to try and see if any P-Bass pickups can help me go in this direction.

    Sorry if my explanation is a bit convoluted, but I'm just really getting into bass terminology and starting to understand how sounds work.

    Try reading the Stickies on the top of the pick up thread. that will give you an idea. Once you are done with that part, we can all start throwing our ideas to you

    Holy crap, I seriously didn't see the one at the VERY top. That isn't even a topic, it's a wiki type page. I did look at the stickys first, but its pretty much all J Pickups stuff. I usually make it a point to do a decent search and read stickys first. Anyway, I will definitely check out that wiki. Thank you for pointing me to it.
