  1. G'day to all in TB land.

Well heres the situation. I'm moving to canada in less then two months, and cant take my current setup over (hartke 3500 + hartke 410).

So i've decided that when i get there it'll be a new rig for me. I'm not sure if i'm taking the head, but for what i think i want i dont think it will be compatible.

So lend me you ears and experience to help lead me in the way of a decision. I now it comes down to how i like the sound but a little experience helps.

    ok heres the choice.

    SWR.
Bass 350 head ([email protected], [email protected])
    G junior (210) ([email protected])
    Triad. (115 +110) ([email protected] or 8ohm)
but this could be switched to a
son of bertha (115) ([email protected])

    or

    Eden.
    WT-400 ([email protected]) ([email protected])
D-210 XLT ([email protected] or 8 ohm)
    D-115 XLT ([email protected])

Another question how do i get these combinatios down to 2 ohms so i'm using the full power of the amps?

Theres not much price diff b/w the to set ups unless i go for the son of B (save about 200 US) so thats like a $1000 australian saving!!!

So lend me your ears a guide me to what you think would be best

    cheers

    yt.

SWR makes nice stuff, for sure, but there is no choice to be made here. Given the two options, the only rational decision is Eden. I have the exact Eden setup you list (except my 115 is a D-115XL), and it RULES! You may, however, want to try that head with a D-410XLT just for kicks. I like that cab very, very much.

  3. Thanks MunjiB,

is there much difference b/w the D-115 XL and the XLT...? to your ears any way? if it's just a power rating thing i guess they would be pretty similar. I'll have to do a A/B test with them once i get there

    cheers mate!

  4. I just checked it out the T is for tweeter.

i guess that would be good, but the 210 also has one.

would this create to much tweeterage (highend)?

  5. I have two D-210Ts and leave the tweeters at 12 o'clock ("flat") on each, so I get a good, sizzly sound with that famous Eden low midrange. However, if you don't want the snap, you can always turn off one of the tweeters with the attenuator.

Well, I guess I'm in the minority around here, but I prefer the SWR.

    Bass 350 head
    Goliath Jr III 2x10+T
    Son of Bertha 1x15+T

I just played on that exact setup again the other day and it really sounds great and is very compact for what you get.

I could go for the same type of setup from Eden if we stay away from any cabinet that says "XLT" on it. I know that is a very unpopular opinion around here, but that's what I think.

But for the ultimate Big Bottom sound:

I guess thats because you are not used to true low end response on a bass cabinet.
I have the Carvin RL1018, and it truly lacks some true CLEAR low end that the Eden and SWR Has.
And the Eden sounds better than some SWR´s.

    I would take a Henry , a D410XLT, a D210XLT.
    Those are my favs-

Btw, do you play in a Band MGood? or Gig?

I haven't ever run pink noise through one and measured the response with a real time analizer, but I'm going to one of these days. I think the XLT's overemphasize some of the low frequencies. I don't really think it's "true" at all. I like a bass rig that puts out exactly what is fed into it, just louder. I don't want any color or flavor added by my amp or cabinets.

No, I'm not in a band at this time. I haven't been playing in a few years and I'm just getting back into it. I'm getting my fingers in shape and working on the chops. Of course, I immediately started looking at gear again. :D I'm about to go shopping the music stores right now, even though I don't have any money.

    Later.

  9. I thought a lot of guys and gals here liked the XLTs,..oh well.

in that case does eden make better cabs than the XLTs?

Well, Glockenklangs are cheaper than Edens over here (Germany), so I'll have no problem as to what I'm gonna choose for my next cab. ;) :)

  11. what about my problem?
