A fretless rickenbacker 4001 for 999$? http://cgi.ebay.com/1976-Rickenback...oryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Buy it now might even be a little high for this. My friend got his 4003 lefty for $600!!! I got mine for $1,100 (worn and w/ pickups replaced). This seems to be in the range.
Obviously not! I never read the titles. Takes too much time. Your post taken literally could make others assume that you weren't following the thread also.
you're right, i wasn't thinking about that until you mentioned it. i was actually quoting someone else's stance, minus the quotes. LOL my bad..
No scam. Its been through everything short of being used to hammer nails but some dummy will pay it. not THIS dummy though.
What's so beat about it? Besides the electronics and the rout job- if that's the stock finish- it looks relatively clean. Look at the headstock, and there's no major biffs, there's no major biffs on the body horns- If'n it were me, I'd get a new pickguard made to cover that rout hole and you'd never even notice.
I think it's pretty cool that somebody with a "what I did to my bass when I was 16 years old and dumber'n asparagus" instrument has one up on eBay without screaming ***RARE*** and ***VINTAGE*** and whatnot and just being honest about what it is. As for the price, it doesn't look out of line to me. As noted above, it wouldn't take much to bring it back cosmetically. I like the white finish...I don't remember seeing one in that color before.
Doesn't that bass count as a Tuxedo ric? I've seen them white w/black plastic, and then I've also seen them white with white if you would take the time to clean that bass up, and then put white accessories on it, it will look amazing.
Hey, If I had the bucks, I'd buy this thing. The neck looks good, the hacking is all cosmetic, and I bet it sounds incredible. The duncan humbucker probably sounds great for a fretless. I've got an old beat (and modded years ago) rick of my own that isn't worth $$ but is a joy to play and hear.
