at 17:54 with the fretless?
Straight up badassery.
On Piano, Jordan Rudess (when he had hair). And on bass, John Myung when he was...white?
Dave Carpenter ?
Going by glasses, moustache and P-Bass?
Not 100% sure though.
Tagging on for a name, awesome stuff!
Dang .... he was dead on!
He played on Buddy Riches ‘the roar of ‘74’ album.
the moustache gave him away
I think you're right.
Another related thread: Who is this bassist?
Confirmed or jury still out?
Never mind looks like Dave Carpenter for the win. RIP.
I’m in doubt now. Did Tony wear glasses?
this is Tony Levin way back
The only other thing I can find is that Tony Levin’s first fretless was a p bass bought in the 70’s.
It never takes this long on TB for someone to show up who was actually there and remembers what they talked about back stage.
Oh, I was there for that. We talked about whether Louie Louie was a sea shanty or a @&$% song.
SRS just the other day I was feeling like Billy Joel's Piano Man is a sea shanty.
So both played for Buddy Rich, both had glasses, moustache and sideburns at the time. Both likely played a fretless p in the 70’s. Both were probably capable of that solo. Only advantage for Tony is that he actually played in the Buddy Rich bigband on the album that came out just before that TV show.
Wow, musicianship on a whole different level!!
Definitely not Levin in that vid.
Tony’s hair before he shaved his head was jet black.
