cmassa Hello. My name is Chris, I'm a bass-aholic.

recently picked up an 80's 810. the speakers
have square magnets. it is missing some
cones so I need 2 of those.
I looked at some Jensen MODS but the voice coil
    is only 1.25" @50w. Today's 810 being 2" @100w.
So if in the high volume, 5 string,
hard rock band I'm in, I keep seeing cones
    shooting across the room.

I'm not sure if you're saying the original speakers are adequate or not.........

The cheapest route is to have your speaker reconed. Reconing includes new voice coils - the only thing reused is the frame and magnet.

Bear in mind that you will not know how your cabinet performs until ALL the speakers are functioning properly. When you lose 1 or 2 speakers, the other speakers now have more cabinet internal volume to deal with, which adversely affects their performance. Think of it this way - let's say you have a 2x10 cab that is 2 cubic feet in volume. 1 cubic foot per driver. If you blow one speaker and keep going, you now effectively have a 1x10 cab that is 2 cubic feet in volume - 2 cubic feet per driver. And that driver probably wasn't designed to be in that large a cab.

I've heard these folks are good with Ampeg speakers...........

5 have the old magnet and I traced them
    today to be CTS.
1 of them is Eminence. Regular magnet.
    all are 32ohms
    2 are missing.

I was wondering if the size of the voice coil matters. As newer SVT cabs have had a 2"
    voice coil.

These Jensen MODS have a 1.25" VC.

I guess I was wondering if I should just
recone and by doing that found out what
their wattage is. and find 2 more to
    fill the cab out.

    I search some.
