http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2575347384&category=16222 Hi guys - I wanted to ask if you think this is worth getting, if it looks like it's in good shape. Also, are NOS (new old stock) Gut strings ok, or do they go bad with age? What are your experiences? Regards Alexi
Hey Alexi, i had brought back to life lots of old gut strings, if they were fraid i would just took the frays away with sand paper and if they were dry(90% of the cases) i just would soak them in regular baby oil for a while, it works great, but of course im talking about strings that i found really cheap or that somebody else gave to me... At this time , the string goes for $16 , which is half of what you would pay for a new one, so it might be a good deal, however i wouldnt pay much more than that for an old string, guts strings are natural strings and of course with time they will loose some of their qualities, flexibility and of course tone ... Thanks a lot. The auction ended, but I'll remember your advice in the future. I will try old guts if the price is reasonable.
