Old Schroetter bass (1940's) info. please.

Discussion in 'Basses [DB]' started by Rodney Shuffler, Dec 7, 2003.

  1. If anyone can tell me a little about older Schroetter UBs I'd appreciate any/all info. sent my way. I'm talkin' off forum with another forumite (who also happens to be a quite distant relative of mine) who has one and I'd just be interested in knowing as much as I could about it. It's a 1940's Schroetter 3/4 set-up and ready to play, all ply w/ no cracks and quite presentable needing nothing more than fresh strings.
    Thanks much.

Schroetter was an importer of factory made German basses. I own one, probably from the 50s (as the label inside says "made in West Germany") and it's a decent ply bass, been a workhorse for me for over 20 years.

Value would be about $1500 in playable condition (i.e. need no repairs, strings or setup work).
