Well, my stingrays preamp crapped out, long story short. In order to get a replacement from ernie ball, i have to mail my current one to them. My stingray is late 80s, early 90s or so. Im worried about a new preamp changing the tone of the instrument too drasticly. The guy at EB that i talked to didnt seem to interested in the call and just said "a stingray preamp is a stingray preamp". Have any big changes been made?

for those years to current it is probably the same preamp.
  3. I've found the guys at the Ernie Ball forums to be incredibly helpful and polite. Plus, the customer service team visits the forum, as does the big boss himself!
