    Hello,

I was wondering if anybody knows much about older wilfer basses? I'm going to find out more in the next few days, but it seems to be from 60's, possibly 70's wilfer bass for sale. The bass will be appraised, but I think it may sell for around around $10 000, could someone verify that this is in the ballpark. Also any history would be greatly appreciated as well. I did do a search and spent quite a while sifting through posts, but I really couldn't find that much. Thanks in advance!

  2. The Wilfer basses are historically dependable quality German made basses. There are two different companies also and I don't know it they are or ever were connected. Andreas Wilfer and Emanuel Wilfer. Alfred Andreas Wilfer founded Framus. His son founded Warwick. Here, you can see a brief explanation of the Emanuel Wilfer family of makers and there are instruments for sale by both makers and you can see some prices. It might make a small difference which Wilfer made the bass, but it seems more like it just depends on the particular instrument.

For some good discussion on German shop instruments in general check this site.

Wilfer has been making basses for generations. Emanuel has passed and his son is now active in the family business. Andreas is also part of the family.
My late father was an early importer of the Wilfer instruments. Many of the "Juzeks" basses are actually Wilfer basses.
I believe Juzek never made any basses himself and they were all Wilfer or Semmlinger or even Hofner.

If anyone here reading this happens to be interested in 3 #10 wilfers - email me.
