Was looking at some of Jess Oliver's amps online, and wondered about the faceplate. It appears to be some sort of plastic back lit with three pilot lights. Has anyone seen these in person? Was curious if the lettering is etched/engraved in, or if it is printed/silk screened. Very cool either way!

Clint - Oliver amps with that sort of face plate have the graphics printed on them. They are actually edge-lit by the 3 bulbs, very much like the plexi logos on the Ampeg Portaflex amps.

    Thanks!

Would love to add one to the collection some day...

  5. Think amps with light up fronts like that are sweet :)

Only thing better (IMO) is the older TE's that had the UV strip light and UV reactive print screened on the front

To get the graphics to light up, the plastic would be etched from the inside ( and remain invisible) so the light on the side would illuminate where the etching would be and create that lit up "Ampeg" effect from the B15's. When I was in shop class (40 years ago), our teacher showed us how to get the plastic to light up with that process.
