Hello All, I'm curious about the metal cylinder (about the size of a 6L6) protruding from my B120's chassis. Is this a rectifier? If so, what type of tubes do these beasts use for rectification? Or perhaps...this metal cylinder is NOT a sheath for a vacuum tube... Can anybody advise? Thanks.
I am going to ttake astab in the dark since i have not seen one of those in years.. but i believe it is a capcitor.. for the power supply filter
If you're talking about Jess Oliver's design, ask him directly at OLIVERSOUNDCO@aol.com I own one of his heads. Very Ampeg'ish. I like it.
is my avatar for a reason. His designs have provided me with decades of enjoyment and income. Best of Luck, Wesley R.
i'm sure it's a multi-stage filter capacitor. it's a few electrolytic capacitors built into a metal container used in the power supply to filter out hum.
