I've read different reviews. What is your opinion?? Are they worth the price?
There are good and bad in OLP basses, even in the same Models. I bought a Jim Deacon Musicman very cheaply off E-Bay a while ago, because it was to emulate the Bass Player in the Tribute Band I was with at the time. The quality, action, sound, etc., were excellent (after a little bit of TLC). So much so that I still have it as a standby on stage. About three weeks ago, a friend of mine showed up at a Gig with the self-same Model Bass, and asked to try it out through my stack. It was dreadful! It rattled, farted, boomed, and was generally just a pig to play. This was after a professional set-up as well!
Moral:- Try before you buy! He has now sold it at a loss, and is being a lot more careful about his next purchase.
