I don't much care for the skunk look. To each his own, I guess.

  6. That is a really nice looking Fodera indeed.

For the money I would probably go with something else, but I do admire their craftsmanship and excellent quality of woods that they use.

I really like this one as well.

One of the best looking basses I've ever seen if not THE best. I was in a mild state of shock when I saw it...

Now we just need to know what it sounds like ;)

  8. That's a fine looking instrument. I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks. However, based on my experience, the instruments coming out of Carey Nordstrand's shop are every bit as high quality, and maybe even higher. Given the choice, even if they were the same price, I would still prefer Carey build it.

Well, I spoke with David Beasely this morning and he said it sounds AMAZING!! The Katalox has similar tonal properties to maple as a fingerboard wood...either way, I think its stunning. Over the top, but still very elegant.

BTW, David and I also did some conceptualizing on my next Fodera. He's a great person to work with...knows his wood choices and tonal properties, and clearly has a great eye esthetically, too...I'm stoked! Highest recommendations to the guys at The Groove Shoppe!!

    Aloha, Garey

Reminds me of the Brubaker spalt series. Unfortunately it has that terrible body shape that leaves most Foderas unappealing to me.

the only one that doesn't like the way these basses look?!

    :bawl: :bassist:

seriously, i don't care for single cutaway looks and i particularly think that fodera's SC's are at the bottom of the aesthetic barrel. just me and my opinion though. :meh:

Nope, you're not alone, and I completely agree with you.

that beez elite is the first single cutaway I've actually REALLY liked.

I generally dislike that style a lot, but something in the coloration of that one, made it look really good.

Yup, I thought I was alone on this.

Most Foderas make me sick. A few are good, but this one makes me gag. A different body, that wood may be a beautiful bass. But no. So sad.
