What pickguard would you choose for a trans blonde (Mary Kaye) Jazz Bass with a Maple board neck ?

    Gold anodized ?
    White/parchment ?
    Tortoiseshell ?
    Other ?

I would go tort or gold, or maybe even black.
I own two white basses and I rock tort and gold.

Here's a quick mock up. The body is actually transparent, but the Kisekae Bass program doesn't seem to allow that.

Tort is my natural instinct, gold anodized intrigues me, and I just set a white 3 ply on it and it looks semi-cool. :eyebrow::confused:

I would go for black if it wasn't a translucent finish.

Might be cool. I tossed that Idea around a bit as well.

  10. Black pickguards look great on light translucent finishes.

Tort would look good on a steaming pile of crap.

  12. I disagree. I don't like the way it looks. On pretty much anything.

Pretty much anything looks good on that combination (white blonde/maple). But I'd go with either white pearloid or black. Either one looks killer.

Tort on vintage white is classic, but overdone. Do you want your bass to look like everyone else's vintage white bass? If so, then tort. Otherwise, any of the other named options are good, but my choice would be a mint or cream with a black contrasting border.

Hmmm. I guess great minds think alike! Yours is very similar to my '57 Reissue. (Sorry for the Strats on a bass forum, but this does show the mint guard on the white blonde/maple.) This guitar originally had a single ply white p/g. I added the mint afterwards.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm leaning tort or gold anodized for some reason. The maple neck will definitely factor in. I'll post pictures when I get the bass completed. :)

Ano gold would look sweet, even more so if you could get a matching control cover!
