Hello all- Out of curiosity, does anyone out there pizz with just the index finger besides myself? I know alot of greats did, and from the recordings, it doesn't sound like it inhibited them- I on the other hand, have to work pretty hard to keep the pace up on super fast bop tempos- I've fleetingly tried incorporating my middle finger to help out, but it feels aukward- I play with low tension/high action, no amp most of the time...

  2. I saw Ray Brown live about 12-13 years ago, and he was just using the side of the index finger for walking at all tempos, he used two fingers for soloing though.

Its great for a constant walking bass line and a lot of tump, especailly with high tension strings. I tend to use it for slower tempos but use two fingers for faster tempos and post-bob or groove bassed lines.
