Just curious. Fender offers a '62 P Bass pickguard replacement in mint green. But I can't recall ever seeing one on a true '62 P. Was this a thing? Maybe a custom color option only? Or is Fender playing with history here? I know they were common on strats and so forth and some Jazz bass color combos. P basses too? Inquiring minds want to know.

I could be wrong, but I don't think mint green was ever actually a legit pickguard color. Rather it was the black middle layer bleeding through the white top layer of the older black/white/black pickguards as they aged. I'm pretty sure the modern "mint greent" is just a replication of that.

  4. The mint green is just what some of the white pickguards aged to look like.
