Before bidding please research what a French Polishing finish is. In a nutshell it is a time consuming super thin hand applied finish used on high price classical instruments (cello, violins...) and classical guitar. The finish is entirely natural and non toxic. Great finish for people with allergies. Wood bowls can be finish with this because it's food safe. French Finishing is shellac mixed with alcohol (Everclear in this instance) and a little olive oil. The good part: it's the thinnest finish available so it preserve all the tone and vibrancy of the wood. I often read all body woods sound the same, which is partly true of the body had been spayed in Fullerplast the covered with a thick finish. The bad part: it is not super resistant and will dissolve with alcohol. No commercial luthier does this for electric instrument because the technique is difficult to master and it's slow to apply: you do one coat to two coat per day and cure time is long.

    Body specs:
5.6 LBS. Awesome ribbon Grain pattern - rare and perfect wood, free of knots or imperfections.
One Piece African Mahogany Precision Style Bass Body.
As shown it is drilled for a Standard 5 mount hole 4 string Fender Bridge.
Pickup route is Standard 5/8" deep. As is the neck route. Snug fit.
Neck Holes and wiring holes drilled.
    1-3/4" thick
The body will accommodate a US Fender pickguard (13 holes) and a five screw Fender retro style bridge.
The neck pocket is very tight is will accommodate a US or Mexican precision or jazz neck.
Great tap tone, this body sounds warm and yields tons of bass, it's also capable of crisp highs.
It's really tonally balanced. I like it paired with a Lollar Overwound P pickup and an ebony fretboard maple neck. I prefer one piece bodies; glue had no tonal qualities.

    Finish specs:
    Hand sanding to 800 grit
No grain filler or glue - this is a one piece body
15 to 20 coats of hand applied shellac using a pad - about 12 to 15 hours of work.
The finish was completed a year ago and was left to cure for 40 days.
Shellac is compatible with everything, should you need a more durable finish, you can spray some nitro on the top or something even harder.

    A la carte:
The price includes the body, nothing else. The bridge and strap pegs will be removed before shipping.

The body is in used condition. The is some light buckle rash at the back not visible on pictures, the is also a mat area on the back near the upper horn due to wear. Last but not least the is a drop mark on the side of the upper horn hear the peg. It was lightly sanded and has many coats over it but you still see it under the right light.

    $225 shipped con USA

Beauty! Rare chance to have such a fine finish on an electric bass.

A great luthier, name withheld. The quality of the work and the wood speaks for itself.
