I have a set of '68 Jbass pups, stamped clearly with:
    X63376

Anyone know of an online source to document their year?

    (I tried a search before I asked.)

    Thanks!

If they are Fender J-pups, you might have some luck on the Fender Forums...

    Thank you.

I emailed Bill Bolton, a contributor to that forum. Perhaps he can shed light on the numbers stamped on the pup.

    FWIW:

If there's not, there should be somebody on the Fender forum who'd know. There's probably some net info on Fender pup dating. As much as I found on speakers, there's bound to be something on pups - especially Fenders. But I've never looked.

try Steve "Dude" Barr at Bass trading company (google search). He's a member of TB and I think he goes by the screen name of Dude but he's not on here often that I know of. Easy to reach by phone or his site. He may not know but he probably will know someone who will.

Rick Turner's also a TB'r and shows on isolated occassion and he'd probably know but personally I'd avoid bugging him except as a last resort.

You're talking vintage stuff and that's a whole other world I avoid with rare exception.
