i'm looking for a replacement preamp for both my warwicks, but the thumb (bolt on 6 fretless) needs it worse. i'm looking at the obp-1 basically because it's cheap, but also because it's pretty well known and gets good reviews. how will this preamp affect the traditional 'growl' of a warwick? i don't want something that adds lots of anything considered 'rich' or 'buttery,' unless i turn up the bass knob. when everythings flat, i want it to sound clear and clean. can the aguilar do this?

oh, and i've got the MEC soapbars in there, running at 18v, if that matters.

anyone have any other sub $100 suggestions? or should i just wire it passive?
