I have an oppurtunity to sell my Ashdown MAG 300 Head and matching 4x10 cabinet to buy an Ampeg SVT 350H Head with the Matching 6x10 speaker cabinet for $1000. I've heard completely mixed review on the SVT350H. Can I get some straight opinions from some of you folks on this head.

    Thanks a bunch!

I can tell you that it's not even close to worth $1000. I'd keep your Ashdown rig. The 350H is an OK but not great amp, and some people like the 610 pretty well, but I'm not a fan.

The tone is lifeless and the head is overall really weak power wise. A Mark Bass LM II or III is more worth your time.

The Ampeg 610 is a good cab, but seriously, don't buy that head. It won't be worth it at all. I used to to own one.

I actually really liked my SVT-350H. Loud and easy to use, considering the wattage. Reliable, too. I just wanted sounds you can only really get from tubes, and it has none.

    I don't think it and a 610 are worth $1000, though.

I just found the mag to be better on every front.

Aside from the spkr cabs, that head would not be an upgrade from what you already have. (it is afterall, just a B1R in an SVT's disguise).
