    Hi folks,

Went to a secondhand store yesterday, and in a corner there was a 6U rack case with an Ampeg SVT-IIP preamp in it. Listed at 230 EUR (which basically is the street price of an SABDDI here, if that may help).

Unfortunately, no way to try it before I get it. So I'd like to get your opinions about this preamp. More specifically, I'd like to know whether it is able to deliver that good ol' "SVT-like" crunchy drive I'm looking after.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Jean

  2. Isnt that just the preamp from the SVT-II (non-pro) ?

If it is, it should sound awsome, my svt II should sound better than it currently does, but im having a tech look at it :)

You should be able to get an SVT like sound from it, afterall, the SVT-II is closer to the original svt than the currnet production models (ive heard!)

  3. Had a bit of a brain fart,

Another way to put it is its probably a more along the lines of a cross between the svp-cl and the svp-pro, but alot close to the pro
