I'm currently cabless, with a Nemesis NA650 head. I've got a bead on a semi-local deal for a like new Ashdown MINI stack, 4x8 and 1x15. I'll probably demo it this week, but I do have a few concerns:

    1. Is it a good fit for my head?

    2. The 4x8 is rated at 600 watts, the 1x15 at 250. Also, 6 db difference in sensitivity. Will this lead to the 115 being drowned out?

    3. I've read a few reviews, where it's stated that neither is particularly good as a standalone cab, due to lack of bottom in the 4x8, lack of highs in the 1x15. Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Anybody with experience with these cabs, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I definitely like the footprint and the look of these cabs, just want to get the view of the TB community before I make an 1 1/2 hour round trip. Thanks!

My brain is telling me that something called "bi-amping" is a solution to this. I don't really know what "bi-amping" is, though. Do a search.

My brain is also telling me the word, "crossover". Again, search. Good luck.

I just got a mini48 but haven't gigged with it yet. I'll use it next weekend with my shuttle 6.0 and Aguilar DB112. I'll report after that.

From what I hear at low volume in my appartment, the mini48 is a VERY punchy cab that I think will be great for hearing myself onstage. It doesn't have the low-end of a 1x12 but has way more mid band attack and highs. I don't plan to use it by itself.

  5. i have two mini 48's and i can assure you there is no lack of bottom end! I use one at practices and both of them on gigs and they are realy great cabs, a little heavy for their size but they are realy great!
