have any you of had the Luck of comparing the de Armond Starfire bass to any other semi-acoustic bass, such as the Guild Starfire,Gibson EB-2 or Epiphone Jack Casady...??
i always wanted to get a ES 335-Style Bass, and i can get a De Armond at a good price...
But i´ve never even heard a guild bass or de Armond...
    any input appreciated!!!;)

I used to play a Guild as a kid (it belonged to the father of a friend) and I own a DeArmond - as a matter of fact, it was my first bass when I started playing again after a twenty year hiatus.

I can't really remember all the sonic differences (and they are there), but I'm very impressed with the quality and tone of my Starfire, especially with a set of flats.

Be aware they closed out a few years ago for around $300 - gauge the quality of the deal based on that. Just out of curiosity, what color? Mine is trans crimson, and I always wanted a natural like the old one.
