Does anyone have any hands on experience with these? And if so what are your opinions of them, how did they help or hurt the sound of the bass they were installed in. I have a couple of basses I am thinking of swapping the preamps on and I am considering the SD pre as an option. I have always had good results with their pickups but have less familiarity with their on board electronics.

Hello. You will find various opinions in prior threads.

My own experience was with just one Seymour Duncan preamp:

Well, i like 'em, but that would probably be expected.

I have the STC-2C-BO Blackouts concentric Treb/Bass in my bass VI. It's great, it's well built and gets me the sounds I hoped for. All that and $50, which is a steal.
I wouldn't hesitate to install it or one of their more MusicMan-ish pres in another bass.

I replaced an MEC BEC 2 with an STC-3p in a Warwick Corvette $$.
I was all inspired by older Warwicks that came with them factory installed.
    It was a major improvement.
