options for Pbasses in 1957-59?

    what kind of options did one have in options as far as colors good, and wood used? I rememeber seeing a 59' P in white with maple FB and matching headstock.....any info would help TONS
     
  2. In mid 57, the split single coil pickup replaced the original single one. At the same time, the pickguard changed and the pbass became what we know it as today. The body was still ash I believe, and the neck and fingerboard were one piece maple. Rosewood fingerboards were only introduced in 1959. I think they only colours offered were blonde, 2 color, and 3 color sunburst. Pickguard was gold anodized until 59 or so when tortoise replaced it.

    I know when Fender did all the pickup changing, but not with the woods they used our colors
