For some time, I have been considering adding a P style bass to my Fender AEJB and Lakland Hollowbody (long scale). After the problems with the frets on my new Fender, I decided to look for a non Fender P style. I narrowed it down to Lakeland MIA 44-64 and the G&L LB-100. I think the Leo connection to the G&L, solid reviews here and listening to videos, the G&L was a close winner. I do not think that I would have been disappointed with the Lakland in any way. Actually, even if a Fender P came with unfinished frets, once corrected, I would have been happy with the tone and playability of the Fender American Professional Precision Bass. I ordered it special ordered from an out of state dealer (no sales tax). Candy apple red, rosewood fretboard, tortoise pickguard, 9.5 radius, C neck (P style), bone saddle. (Pino Pallodino look, although I was not aware of the similarity when I ordered). Since I have a Jazz and a HB, I decided to go pretty straight P to give me a distinctly different feel and sound. Now the wait... But, at least I have two fine thumpers to play with while waiting.
