specs are kind of a hush hush deal, until its done of course.

not that its a stealth spec or anything. i just like baiting the talkbass hook!

    yvon: shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

    brad: you too.

JZ found some great top wood.

still up in the air on a few features. but,

I think that as a fellow Zon-bie (Lightwave too!!) I earn the right to know.:D I'm sure you can't go wrong either way with Zon, but the 12 week wait...I wanna know.
Is it that piece of fiberboard Joe was saving for a special bass ?:)
I need answers or hints or something to keep me going.

I know I've been sworn to secrecy but I never liked fred anyways so here's the poop scoop:

fred's getting the first "cloned" Zon! Sweet.

While it will have special fortified wood and will be fully three-dimensional, it's DNA has been enjoined with something compositeers have drooled over since the Summer of '68... Moon rock! Moon rock really don't need no truss rod.

    or...

    I have no idea.

    Take your pick

    :p

Now the waiting starts. Hee haw!

...I'll just ask Joe next time I call him! :p ;)

Stachio, I really dug the top on your lightwave. So much so that I called Joe and asked if he had anymore like it. Bass Central's next fretless Zon 5 string will have a sycamore top...:D (Won't be a cool lightwave though)

...naw, it's all good, I'm just pullin' your leg...;)

Not about the sycamore top though, that's for real! :D Good thing I'm already head-over-heels in love with my Special, or I'd be in serious trouble when that one hits the door!

Brad, did you lose your limburger again??? I hate it when you do that, it smells awful around here for a solid week....

    Jeff, Jeff, Jeff....

....lines, of course. The very first Sims LED fretlines....

  15. Neon blue, I hope? Pink for the 5th, 8th and 12th fret?

Of course, if it's fretless I hope fred realizes he can't use no fretless on that weird rock music he plays...

    :D

  16. DUDE!!! AWESOME!!

I cant remember how long I waited for mine but its worth the wait (as I am sure you know). Please post a pic and info on my site too!!
    Congrats !!

    reverse fanned fret 4 string, 42" G string / 12" E string...mangowood neck with edible coating.

    body is calcified balsa.

    but, seriously folks...

    i WILL say:

sonus ""style"", 5 string fretless, 35" scale...

    led lines? hmmmm...

other features are in flux. my favorite top wood though. JZ said he found some remarkable stock!!!

worthy enuf to get this thing started...and to get me to place a deposit.

i'd like to take a trip up the coast to Redwood City, while its being built.

    Gard,
Glad you liked the Lightwave. I think the Lightwave felt the love too :D. Wow ! so he does have some more sycamore tops lying around. I feel so betrayed...:( Although I guess I have the first one...I think. I'm in love with mine though. Punchy, yet not as bright as maple, and the Lightwave pickups really bring it out. And I'll try to get some TI Acousticores on there for ya next time.

    Fred,
Tell me if I'm getting warm...spalted maple ?
    You're killin' me here.

    Brad,
    The truth is out there.:)
