Ordering some P+J pickups. Need help.

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by count_funkula, Mar 21, 2002.

  1. I'm going to order some pickups for my Warmoth project tonight but have some concerns. I'm worried about getting a P and J pickup that won't sound good together.

Any idea how a Fender 62' P-bass pickup and a Fender Custom Shop 60' Jazz would sound together?

I want something that has a big passive fingerstyle sound that can produce a resonable slap sound as well.

    HELP!!

i think it would sound very '61 franken-fenderish

  3. I think I'm just going to get some SD Quarter Pounders.

  4. You should consider hearing a Quarter Pounder before ordering blind. They are very shrill to many ears. There are some Fender models that have QP installed stock... check one out at the local Fender shop.

  5. I ended up ordering a Dimarzio DP126 set instead. Pretty good price and I know they sound pretty good. I give a report when I get them installed.
