Original Guv'nor or Guv'nor II?

I need an overdrive to complete my pedalboard, and due to my relatively tight budget, I've laid my eyes (and ears) on the Marshall Guv'nor.
I have an original, vintage one at hand for about the same price as the new model (original about 25 bucks cheaper.)
Have read in an earlier thread that the original is noisy.

Does anyone have any experience with these pedals that can recommend either of them?

If im not mistaken i remeber reading that the Guvnor II holds lows better than the first one.

    but i may be wrong,
    correct me if im wrong

I've never tried the II, but I really can't see how this one has less lows. There is a little bit of loss, but it's nothing terrible.

This is real great for some really gnarly trebly grit.

Another vote for the original. It looks better on your board too ;)

I've got the original which i bought from ebay for £10.50!! What a steal. Ive also had the reissue and like the original best but I wouldnt say it was great. The EQ isnt really suited to bass and there is some bass loss and as such in the process looking to mod it to change that.
