I'm "fixing up" my dad's old p bass for his birthday and I'm just wondering what strings I should use to get it sounding good again.
Also if anyone knows what strings he might have used "back in the day" I would really appreciate it :)

Some info about the bass is here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43496

    Thanks !

Fender Basses came stock with Nickle flats...probably what today is the Nickle Light gauge set.

In the 60's most stores carried Labella (what is now called the Jamerson set) and Fender lights and that was IT. Of the two the LaBella set was more popular, although some very prominent NYC studio guys were using the Fenders.
