Not that I know of. He has played with Paquito D'Rivera, The Caribbean Jazz Project, Dave Liebman, and many others.

    Hi

I just got off the phone with Oscar and it looks like he has a web sight and is distributing it himself!

You are referring to Oscar Cartaya who played several years with Spyro Gyra. He's doing a lot of production these days in Cali and Puerto Rico. He's doing the Latin and Salsa thing!

I bought my copy from Oscar's website($16 TOTAL).
Took 3 or 4 days to arrive.

    If you opt for Descarga's site(which is a great site)...you will pay $16 + postage(approx. total = $21).

The album is very good; there's some Wayne Shorter compositions that have been Latin-ized, there's some odd-time grooves(check out the recent Bass Player mag)...there's even some 'smoother' Spyro Gyra-ish material on Stagnaro's album.

I listened to all the sound samples back when I first saw his interview in Bass Player. Really good stuff; I need to get the album. It's cool to hear Latin music where bass is the predominant instrument.
