This is kinda a dumb question, but i just wanted some imput. I know your suppose to use a bass amp to play a bass guitar, but what would be the down sides or the problems of using a guitar amp while playing a bass guitar? Or what about using a keyboard amp, i know my school's band, use's a keyboard amp to play their keyboard and the bass guitar. What are some of the downs of using a keyboard amp and using a guitar amp?

Guitar amps aren't able to handle bass frequencies at appreciable volumes. They just weren't made to, they don't have the wattage necessary to push the sound, etc etc.

Keyboard amps are okay in that they can handle all the frequencies with ease, but if you're looking for a signature sound, they're not "tuned" like bass amps usually are, to optimize the sound of bass guitar. I've used keyboard amps and they've been fine.
