Anybody know of any forums for contemporary musicians in general?
There are other forums on the Internet??
Jazz Corner's speakeasy is a good one - has a great section where you can ask questions of Jazz pros like Dave Hollland, Robin Eubanks etc.
Some good debates there!
Music related, therefore - Misc.
gee thanks, that really answered my question.
And bruce, I'm not a Jazz musician. If anything I'm an alternative musician.
I'm a hypto-neo-polyphonc musician!!!!
Anywany. Check out the dudepit.
I stop by The Dude Pit from time to time. It's not bad. Not as active as here.
Another one I used to visit was Harmony Central but there seemed to always be heated discussions going on between Christians and non Christians, Democrats and Republicans, gays and non gays etc.. It seemed to be pretty much unmoderated so there was a ton of garbage between the posts about music in general and bass in particular. Good place to cut loose if that is your bag though....
Here are some I know about:
Home of the HCBF
Run by Steve 'Dude' Barr, who's also a member of these forums
Info on instrument building
Run by allan grossman, a member of HCBF and these forums
More recording info than you can shake a pointer at
there are other places like activebass.com cyberfretbass.com bassdogs.com and more. Google is your friend.
Could you post a link please? I'd like to learn more about jazz.
Try'd Ampegs Forum yet.....?
lol, just because he had to move your improperly placed thread, doesn't mean he has to contribute to the thread. There are quite a few other boards o nthe net, each of them has their cliques. Most aren't worth kissing your way into, IMO. HC, and a lot of the like boards are too much BS to sift through, childish, unmoderated behavior. Not my kind of crowd.
Well - musicians like Dave Holland and Robin Eubanks can turn their hand to all sorts of contemporary styles - and what's an "alternative musician" - sounds like one who can't play very well!!
As in - I have many alternatives to practicing my instrument!!
Sorry - I thought it was too obvious :
Nope, but the link is!
I searched on "squeak easy" and you wouldn't believe what I came up with lol. Guess I shoulda tried jazz corner.
Anyway, thanks for the link!
Well I still have alot to learn, but I wouldn't say I can't play very well. I know alternative is a dated term, but I don't know how else to easily define my taste in music. I like punk bands like Nofx and the Misfits. I also like ska bands, new wave bands, Mod bands, buckethead, ect. Anything that's rock based and quirky.
