Dig the dude at 0:45 putting his bass away. :)

Note, he's praising the Lord and melting your face with a simple Fender.

    Joy to the world, indeed!

Don't know how many times I have seen this, and it always delivers. Great stuff. I particularly like that there was no SP going on, just solid finger style.

I've often felt like a deficient bassist because I don't slap & pop.
Now, granted, Sharay can S&P like crazy, but THIS clip is the ideal that I'm striving for; incredible groove and taste, executed with joy and fire.
No tricks or gimmicks -- just...wow...

I'm not a big fan of gospel; it seems that too much Christian music is cheesy (melodramatic, overproduced, cliched...)?

This, on the other hand, has all the joy that you'd expect from "praise" music.
With amazing, uplifting, upbeat faith-based music like this, why does the other stuff dominate the market?

Oh yeah...the SKILL it takes to play like this is not a common commodity...

Non stuffy, non white people are just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to encouraging bland music. Looked at the "R&B" charts lately?

^ I stand 100% corrected, and your example is irrefutable. Seldom has anything been less soulful, or r&b, than what passes for popular soul and r&b.

My apologies to stuffy people of all skin colors, and to everyone with terrible taste in music. God's mercy on you all.

    Sharay rocks!
Here's a transcription I did of his line in the video from the OP. It's as accurate as I could get it considering the noisy recording. I didn't get around to adding the chords so I'll add that if I can remember to do it. Hope this is useful or enjoyable for some of you.

    I'm floored!.
This guy is something else..incredible tasteful playing, in fact I would even go so far as saying that his note positioning is up there with Jammerson..every note and run brilliantly executed.
Also the sound of the singers is just lovely not to mention the arrangement. Simply a brilliant piece!

I've watched this a bunch. I believe he's playing through a GK MB200 combo of I remember correctly. Great tone.

Not my thing, but I like his tone a lot more than I like the sound of most bass in that style.
