out board preamp question

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Da Funk Docta, Jul 9, 2004.

  1. Hey, I'm not a big fan or active controls in my basses, mostly because of lack of batterys as stupid as it sounds. I'm to lazy of a guy to change batterys when they run out and so forth. But, i do want an outboard preamp that keeps the tone that it gets now, if bypassed. The thing is, from what im hearing about preamps, if theyre bypassed, you wont get the same tone from your passive pickups. but then again, i dont know. I guess my question is that if I have an outboard preamp, useing an AC adaptor, would it make my bass sound exactly the same as it does now if it's bypassed? thanks!
