I am looking to get lindy fralin overwound precision pickups and was wondering is going 25%overwound overkill? I tune down c# g# b e does anyone know if it will be bad?

Any fralin owners please tell me how much over or under wound you got yours.

    Thanks guys

I bet you'd have a hard time getting Lindy to overwind something like that. What do you think you will achieve from overwinding?

uhh more bass, so the low notes have more clarity. Thats what I hope anyway.

Overwinding a pickup will NOT give you more bass.

Actually What you need is an extrememly CLEAR pickup and a good preamp.

Over winding a pickup raises its inductance resulting in a thicker sound (read more mids), and many will equate that to a less distinct sound.

Overwinding is not what you want to do - unless you want a thicker sound, not necessarily a clearer sound.

I'd PM Jaquo-XIII as he seems to be the resident expert on Sub Contra Bass tuning.
