The best time of my life.

At 14, its my first BIG concert. I had the best time of my life. Second stage is great because you can get as close as you want to the bands and have "fun" in the pit. Motograter was awesome AND I got to see (and be 5 feet away) from my biggest idol, Jason Newstead. Also the drummer from KillSwitch Engage threw me a drumstick!

Ozzy put on a great show, as always. Chevelle sucks :D, Disturbed was ok, Manson is a cool act to watch and Korn played an awesome set.

    The cost! Oh jesus.

    $50 for a ticket
$4 for water (got about 3 bottles, hot day!)
    $30 for a t-shirt
No price for the amount of fun I had.

Anyone else been to any of the dates?

    \m/ OZZY! \m/
  2. congrats dude on catching something like that..they're one of my favorite heavy bands!

Glad you had fun.....the first big show I went to, I was 14, too...it was BigDayOffFest in Jones beach with Mudvayne,Disturbed,Linkin Park,Slipknot and Manson....it was a very fun and memorable day, as I also got a drumstick!

how was Cradle of Filth btw....I never got to see them live!
  3. thanks for telling me, I keep hearing how awesome they are live...I'm not really into black metal but them and Dimmu Borgir are really really good. I can't wait till I can see them play Born in a Burial Gown or Her Ghost in the Fog.

    Ozzfest was killer.

second stage was sweeet....Motograter was awesome, and at first glance I thought they had 2 and 1/2 drummers...the 1/2 turned out to be the thing that they use instead of a bass, which seems to be a piece of industrial cable stretched out on a frame. :p :D

The other band that rocked my socks was Shadow's Fall, a relatively new band....with...what's that...lead guitar parts? I was impressed, so I had to buy their CD and have them all sign it, which was cool. The CD kicks arse too.

Gladly I missed Chimaira on the first stage, they didn't fit with Ozzfest at all IMO.

Disturbed kicked ass, Manson...was a little weird, but rocked most of the time, Korn blew me away, and Fieldy's tone wasn't that bad after all. Then there was Ozzy and Zakk. can you say..GODS!?

My cousin plays guitar for them. I got all access at Ozzfest and got to check them out. That instrument is called the motograter, it is 2 high tension cables mounted on springs with pickups under them and played with a drumstick. He capo's the strings to change notes. It sounds huge.

Just curious, why don't you think they fit the bill ? They're pretty heavy...Good metal guitarists with iffy lyrics.
I thought that when Queens of the Stone Age played a few years ago, that didn't fit.

nah...their vocalist can really sing :p

I played in a group with the singer and guitarist (my cousin) for a while in Colorado. It was a bit more tribal than Motograter, I played bass and aux. drums at the same time, good fun.

Chimaira is definitely far from being one of my favorite bands, but I don't find their guitarists that bad...especially when you're juxtaposing them with the typical Ozzfest bands (Slipknot, System of a Down, etc.). They're one of those bands which don't strike me as horrible but which haven't really caught my attention that much either.
We agree on the Slayer solos though.
