P-bass colours and pickguards???

Ok, so, I'm looking at either the 62 or 57 p-bass

The 57 wins on tone hands down however, sadly I must admit I'm quite colour & looks conscious. I would ideally like the 62 looks with the 57 sound. Hence my following question:

Has anyone tried a tortoise shell pickguard with a 57 bass? I havent seen any basses with the maple neck and 2 colour sunburst.

Any thoughts guys?

So you have seen maple with tortoiseshell, where?!!

an interesting theory there with the pickups! Surely theres a few more differences than just the p-ups?!?

Saying that, can you actually buy those pickups off the shelf? Or are we talking a lucky find on ebay?
