P / J with lots of warmth ?

  1. Ok.. so i've bought this Warwick Fortress.. but the pickups are sort of ready to be retired..

I've bought this bass because it sounds so goddamn warm and deep.. Me like ! :D
So now i'm looking for a P and a J pickup that can bring the bass' natural warmth into a nice signal..

So far i've seen 3 options..

    - Bartolini P8S + Bartolini J9J-L1
    - MEC M60100 + MEC M60101L ( These are actually the same pickups as stock )
    - MEC M60200 + MEC M60201L ( Active MEC pickups.. the same ones as used in the streamer stage II / Thumb )

I do not want exposed polepieces, and i don't want EMG's.. what are my other options ?

of the 3 you mentioned I like the Bartolini's the best

    (but I do like EMG's)
  4. housing has a small crack + their output is very low ( measured it ) .. :(
  5. which part of " i dont want exposed polepieces " do you not understand ? ;)

b.t.w. i've made my choice already.. i'm going to put in EMG select pickups ( the same type as in Mr. P ).. because those have very good quality / price relation :)
  6. Yes, but the polepieces are black, and as we all know:

But seriously, the polepieces aren't obtrusive, and the sound is KILLER.

You want sound files by any chance? I can do you some.

I thought you said you didnt want EMG's??

From what I've heard the Stage I and II use a p-up that is modeled just like the Seymour Duncans that was an option before.

So I say get the Satge I model.
