P-mod question about tuners

    Can I fit vintage style (schaller?) tuners on my mim p-bass? You know, the wider 70's type ones? If not, would would be considered
    an actual upgrade from the standard ones on there now?

    I think you can... I fitted a set of Wilkinsons to mine... the originals were a bit loose and sloppy, plus I like the old Fender style 'chunky' heads.

    They are standard fender replacements.

    Tip... retain the old mounting screws... they are longer and thicker than the Wilko ones.

    Hipshot makes some nice drop in replacements

    Yes... they're neat but expensive... The Wilks were around £6 each!

    I put some gotoh's on my squier and if they fit a squier I guess they will also fit your fender
