Does anyone know why it is so hard to slap a P-bass?

Who says it's hard to slap on a P-Bass? Just listen to Freddie Washington's bass line on Patrice Rushen's song "Forget Me Nots". (The chorus of this song was also sampled for Will Smith's "Men In Black"). Freddie used a '72 P-Bass with roundwound strings to record this song. Many players like to use flatwounds on a P-Bass, which would make it almost impossible to get a modern slap sound. I believe you can slap on almost any bass, as long as you have the proper set-up - roundwound strings being one major factor. Go ahead and slap that P-Bass :) .
