PA speakers reviews/resources (sorry if off topic)

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by CaptainWally, Dec 26, 2001.

  1. Sorry to post this here, but since my bass
will be running partially through the PA in
some cases, it's KIND of on-topic.

Can someone please recommend some good
choices in 10 or 12 inch PA speakers that
are light-weight and offer good sound? I'm
looking at Carvin's choices, but I'd like to
    consider others as well..please recommend
speakers or resources for more info...

JBL MR-922's or MR-925's. I just got a pair of Mackie SR 1530 powered speakers, and ran through them at rehearsal tonight. Whoa. Clean and loud. But a bit pricey. My old PA is JBL MR-925's, 935's and 918's with QSC amps. Oh, it sounds bitchen, but those JBL's will be spending more time in the garage now. You owe it to yourself to audition some SR 1530s.

If you've got a lot of power Acme has been selling a lot of their B-2(2-10",5"mid and horn tweeter)bass cabs for PA.You can get them with the pole sockets installed. They have as much low end as many 18s and are very clean in the mids and highs. The down side is you should have at least 500 watts for each speaker. They are also a little pricey(around a grand for a pair)but your bass would sound really good through the PA then.
