Alright so I got out of playing bass over the school year, and I picked it back up again this summer. And I noticed that while i'm playing my thumb starts getting this sharp pain going through it. It never did it before I quit playing. Just now after I picked it up again. I don't know if i'm putting to much pressure on my thumb while i'm picking or what. Has anyone else had this problem and if so howd you fix it? Any input is greatly apreciated.

Assuming it's your right hand (because you mentioned picking), I've had the same thing happen.. I was collapsing the joint in my thumb as well as putting too much pressure on it... try making sure you don't collapse the joint.. it will change your playing just a bit but it doesn't take long to correct and adapt

Yeah its my picking hand I should of specified. but thanks dude I think it does have something to do with the joint because I noticed the pain is coming from where my thumb connects with my palm.
