Painting a Warmoth.

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by count_funkula, Mar 25, 2002.

  1. What kind of paint works well for bass bodies? I finished my Warmoth with a clear gloss nitrocellulous
finish but I have decided I want to paint it a solid color instead. The guy at the guitar reranch said it was ok to paint over the clear gloss. I was going to buy paint from the reranch but the colors available are limited to classic Fender colors. I was thinking about Inca Silver but I'm not sure how a P-bass would look in that color.

What other paints are available in spray can form that would work well with my bass?

I'm told that certain automotive finishes (e.g., from DuPont) will work, and that Leo Fender used those colors in many of his classic finishes, but I don't know much detail.

Dude, this thread is almost 7 years old. How did it randomly get found and bumped?

I'd use oil-based paints and a selection of brushes.
