So, I'm getting ready to refinish a body, and I want to go with a dark gray/pewter metallic color. Unfortunately I can't find any guitar paint that's anywhere near that color. I did a search and didn't really come up with any answers, so I figured I'd post.

    1. Is there anywhere online besides ReRanch that sells the aerosal guitar paints?

    2. Would a light coat of Inca Silver over a black base give the desired effect?

    3. Would several coats of Krylon or some other acrylic paint do the trick if I finish with a luthiers' laquer clearcoat?

    4. Finally, is there anything special I need to know about doing a matching headstock, or is it pretty straighforward?

    Thanks.

ther are some analine dyes in powder form that worked very well for me. the color this called
pearl grey . done in very thin coats.

Automotive paint in aresols work fine for guitars
but allways check for compatablity on a scrap piece.
